Congratulations Amber Cubitt and Spoon In!
The winner of our second EY Pitch Competition is Amber Cubitt – the founder of Spoon in.
With the support of EY, CGLCC hosted the second of a series of three pitch sessions on April 20, 2022. In these sessions, selected LGBT+ Certified Suppliers and OUT for Business Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to present their business pitch to a panel of judges in 10 minutes. The judges then evaluate the pitch and offer feedback and tips. These pitch sessions are an amazing opportunity for LGBT+ businesses to learn how they can improve their selling techniques to corporate buyers.

Spoon In has been my passion project for nearly 5 years now, though it has gone through many changes. What began as a pop-up smoothie bar seemingly changed as COVID completely shut down social gatherings for the better part of a year. This obstacle soon turned into the creative push I needed to launch the Ready Made Frozen Smoothie Bowl; a CPG that is not only nutritious, delicious, and convenient, but one that prides itself on inclusive dietary claims. As someone who eats vegan and gluten free, I am constantly on the look out for options that meet my needs. Because of this, I know just how important it is to create a safe food space for so many like myself.
Coming into 2022 I became increasingly aware of the business’s potential, as more and more retailers accepted our products onto their shelves. Now in the stage of scaling Spoon In, I’m able to spend my time doing what I love most; bringing joy to others through food. With the help of mentorship and networking programs such as the CGLCC, I have been gifted the encouragement to share my story in new ways, and for that I am grateful!
