The Canadian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) is Admitted to the Assembly of the International Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (IGLCC) to Represent Canada

Toronto, ON – July 27, 2007 - The Canadian Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) was formally admitted to the assembly of the International Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (IGLCC). CGLCC is the only national organization representing Lesbian Gay, Bisexual, Trans-persons, Two-spirited, and Intersex (LGBT) general business interests in Canada.

The CGLCC works to represent the various interests of LGBT owned businesses and operated businesses, LGBT friendly businesses, professionals, and students of business, and corporations that share in our desire to expand the community's financial opportunities, economic growth, continued innovation, and equality. The CGLCC promotes economic growth, prosperity, and equality through public and private sector advocacy and education.

The CGLCC acts as a resource of information for and between businesses organizations and the media, and seeks to illustrate the economic benefits of providing a diverse workplace and creating mutually beneficial relationships with the LGBT and LGBT friendly business community.

The International Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (IGLCC) was founded in 2006 in
Hamburg, Germany and is based in Montréal, Canada. The IGLCC is an international not-for profit organization dedicated to improving the livelihood of LGBT communities worldwide, to supporting the advancement of the LGBT business community globally, and to building bridges between the LGBT and non-LGBT business communities.

IGLCC Assembly Members are National LGBT Chambers of Commerce and business associations. They are at the heart of the IGLCC’s mandate, and help to define the organization’s goals and objectives. A number of affiliate members also serve as members of the Board of Directors.

Pascal Lépine Secretary General of the IGLCC said “It is without doubt that CGLCC’s representation on the assembly of IGLCC will be beneficial to all, as the aims of both organizations are aligned.”

R. Bruce McDonald, Co-Founder of the CGLCC, said “We look forward to working with the IGLCC and its members. We will ensure that the Canadian LGBT perspective is brought forward and shared internationally."
