The Canadian Gay &
Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) is Admitted to the Assembly of
the International Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (IGLCC) to
Represent Canada
Toronto, ON – July 27, 2007 - The
Canadian Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) was formally
admitted to the assembly of the International Gay & Lesbian Chamber
of Commerce (IGLCC). CGLCC is the only national organization
representing Lesbian Gay, Bisexual, Trans-persons, Two-spirited, and
Intersex (LGBT) general business interests in Canada.
The CGLCC works to represent the various interests of LGBT owned
businesses and operated businesses, LGBT friendly businesses,
professionals, and students of business, and corporations that share
in our desire to expand the community's financial opportunities,
economic growth, continued innovation, and equality. The CGLCC
promotes economic growth, prosperity, and equality through public
and private sector advocacy and education.
The CGLCC acts as a resource of information for and between
businesses organizations and the media, and seeks to illustrate the
economic benefits of providing a diverse workplace and creating
mutually beneficial relationships with the LGBT and LGBT friendly
business community.
The International Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (IGLCC) was
founded in 2006 in
Hamburg, Germany and is based in Montréal, Canada. The IGLCC is an
international not-for profit organization dedicated to improving the
livelihood of LGBT communities worldwide, to supporting the
advancement of the LGBT business community globally, and to building
bridges between the LGBT and non-LGBT business communities.
IGLCC Assembly Members are National LGBT Chambers of Commerce and
business associations. They are at the heart of the IGLCC’s mandate,
and help to define the organization’s goals and objectives. A number
of affiliate members also serve as members of the Board of
Directors.
Pascal Lépine Secretary General of the IGLCC said “It is without
doubt that CGLCC’s representation on the assembly of IGLCC will be
beneficial to all, as the aims of both organizations are aligned.”
R. Bruce McDonald, Co-Founder of the CGLCC, said “We look forward to
