Darrell participated on one of two panel sessions. Focused on how LGBT leaders can drive change and help cities grow and succeed, he was able to share experiences of Canadian leaders that have been instrumental in bringing greater LGBT equality and economic changes for Canadian LGBT people and LGBT-owned businesses.

In conjunction with the Leaders For Change conference, CGLCC participated in meetings to help with the formation of a new Italian LGBT Chamber of Commerce. CGLCC, along with other LGBT business groups from Europe and the USA, offered support to the Italian group of business leaders who were keen to learn from Canadian experiences building an LGBT Chamber of Commerce. The meeting, held October 1, resulted in an established foundation and committed formation of a new LGBT business group in Italy, with a mandate to drive change in the country through economic empowerment.
During his time in Italy, Darrell was able to meet with representatives from the Canadian Embassy in Rome, and discuss their ongoing efforts to improving LGBT human rights in Italy. Darrell was also able to share the recently released Call to Action from the Dignity Initiative, highlighting how Canada can support human rights for LGBT people globally (for a copy of this Call to Action, visit http://www.dignityinitiative.ca/en/).
