The Canadian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) and the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC, USA) celebrated WorldPride 2014 Toronto by signing an international cooperation agreement promoting LGBT supplier diversity and business enterprise certification.
“The CGLC is proud and excited to be formalizing a partnership with the NGLCC that will give certified LGBT business enterprises further benefit, connections and opportunity to build their business in North America”, said Bruce McDonald, CGLCC Co-Founder and Chair. “We thank the NGLCC for their leadership and support as we build the LGBT Supplier Diversity Program in Canada.”
“NGLCC is committed to building a global LGBT business community,” said Justin Nelson, Co-Founder and President of the NGLCC, “We congratulate the CGLCC on the launch of its supplier diversity program, confident that its strong foundation as a resource to LGBT entrepreneurs will serve model for chambers around the world."
Supplier diversity is increasingly being embraced by corporations in Canada, matching procurement leaders with certified diverse suppliers that can offer new and flexible business solutions boosting innovation and diversity within corporate supply chains. Currently less than 5% of corporate spending in Canada can be identified as going to certified diverse suppliers, which is why programs like this are important for all parties.
