R. Bruce McDonald CFM, CMC, CSP *

Mr. McDonald was born and raised in Western Canada and attended high
school and college in Winnipeg Manitoba. Since 1994 he has been
self-employed as a senior retail analyst and consultant. Bruce has
worked from coast to coast in Canada and in several cities in the US.
As well as Bruce’s excellent record in retail consulting he has
extensive experience in the hospitality, travel and tourism industries
having held senior management and marketing positions in various
organizations from small independents to large international companies.
Bruce’s diversified experience includes holding executive positions in
charitable organizations, industry associations and government
committees associated with the tourism industry and business community.
Non Profit Organizations Mr. McDonald has served with include: Canadian
Food Service Executives Association, Manitoba Tourism Educational
Council, Variety Club International, Canadian National Institute for the
Blind, Toastmasters, The Fraternity, Aids Committee of Toronto (ACT),
and Ontario Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce; and has been involved
as a member of the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council, Alberta
Rockies Gay Rodeo Association, Okanagan Rainbow Coalition, Vancouver
Pride Society Quebec Gay Chamber of
Commerce, Lambda Business & Professional Association of Manitoba,
Gay
& Lesbian Business Association of Greater Vancouver, Gay Toronto Tourism Guild, National Gay

Darrell Schuurman B.Comm.

Darrell has over 10 years experience in the tourism industry, working in
the accommodation, food and beverage, tourism services, and travel trade
sectors of the industry. Since 1998, he worked with the Canadian Tourism
Human Resource Council (CTHRC) as Director of Sales & Marketing, where
he managed the national sales and distribution system. He worked closely
with provincial tourism education councils, provincial tourism industry
organizations, Human Resources Development Canada, and national tourism
associations, and was responsible for initiating a national branding
exercise to promote the Council’s 200+ products and programs.
Prior to his work with CTHRC, he completed a term at the Canadian
Consulate in Sydney, Australia, where he worked in the tourism
department promoting Canada to Australia. Gaining exposure to the
successes of such countries as Australia and the UK in targeting the
GLBT market, he realized the potential for Canada and began
investigating the opportunities for promoting Canada as one of the
world’s most open and progressive destinations.
Growing up in Alberta, Darrell completed his Bachelor of Commerce Degree
concentrating in Tourism at the University of Calgary. He moved to
Ottawa in 1998 to work with the CTHRC. In 2001, he moved to Toronto,
where he currently resides with his partner of 6 years. He is active
within the gay community, having volunteered for several gay
organizations, including GLCSA (Calgary) and Toronto Pride. Along with
his partner, he has developed a business plan for a retail venture
targeting the GLBT community. He is currently a member of EGALE, IGLTA,
and CCGQ (Quebec). |
Richard Branston

Richard
Branston is an Account Executive in the financial services sector with
IBM Canada. Richard is responsible for all aspects of the IBM business
in the account area having responsibilities including sales, delivery,
strategic partnerships, & overall relationship.
As an executive with IBM, with over 18 years of information technology
experience, he has managed numerous business units within IBM. He has a
strong track record of developing new businesses, growing existing
businesses, and fixing troubled businesses. In addition to Richard’s
business management skills, he has a strong information technology
background and has worked with executives from companies across Canada
to solve their IT challenges.
Richard specialized in infrastructure optimization, IT mergers &
acquisitions, information security, process consulting, and IT
operations. Richard is also a certified consultant & a confirmed IBM
Principal. Prior to Richard’s extensive experience working with the
Canada’s largest banks & insurance firms he was the General Manager
responsible for IBM’s Security businesses in Canada and responsible for
building IBM Canada’s IT Optimization Consulting practices from start-up
into a multi-million dollar national practice. Richard has an additional
experience in outsourcing IT operations and has also worked in the
United Kingdom in his field.
In addition to his job responsibilities, Richard has been involved in
workplace diversity initiatives at IBM since 1995. He has served on IBM
Canada’s Diversity Board and IBM’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and
Transgender (GLBT) Global Executive Task Force. Richard continues to be
involved with various boards of directors and a number of community and
charitable organizations.
